Trip to Anchorage, Alaska

Trip to Anchorage, Alaska

Finally, the much awaited trip in this year happened in September. Alaska is a beautiful place with so many mountain ranges, glaciers, ocean, forests, animals, northern lights and so many things to see and enjoy. I had been to Alaska once and I loved this place, so I told my wife and my friend's family that we should visit Alaska. We have planned about this trip in May and had booked the flight tickets, and hotels.

On 14th September midnight, we started from Portland in car to Seattle and parked our car in master parking lot b  we met my friend's family there and then went to airport in a shuttle. We boarded the flight and as it was an early morning flight, we were able to watch the beautiful sunrise. As there weren't many people in the flight, it was quiet and we all rested for sometime. Excitement of going to Alaska was so high,  that we could hardly rest or be contained.

We landed in Anchorage airport around 9.30 am, Anchorage airport is a small  but beautiful and we could see different animal manikin's they are so well preserved. It was already 10.30 am so we took the rental car and went to Snow city cafe, the wait time is 1hr so we order to go and then walked around the cafe. First, we went to Captain Cook Monument and then went to the park. The are trails around the park and it was cold so we didn't see many people in the trails or in the park.

We finished our breakfast, it was quiet good and then we did shopping for all the necessary items and eatables as we were here for 5 days. After finishing the shopping, we directly went to Beluga point. Normally, it's a 1hr drive from Anchorage on the way to Seward, but road construction added a delay of 30mins. We were hoping to see Beluga whales but no luck, we were able to see some mountain goats on the mountains, they were very far, so we could be able to see them using binoculars and long camers lens. We stayed there for 30mins, took couple of picture and went back to anchorage to see the museum.

Mountain goats.... Any guess how many were there?

Anchorage museum is in the city and it has lot of history about the Alaska people life style, art and science. At least we require 2hrs to see the whole place. Some glimse of Anchorage museum below, it is a must place if you want to see Alaska history ,lifestyle and they have beautiful paintings, it's worth a visit. After museum visit, we ordered food in an Indian restaurant and started our journey to Denali National park.
